Culture Creation:

Hollywood uses social concepts to story-tell all the time. Below are several movies that explicitly show one or more generalized psychologica concepts. Pick one and use portions of it to describe one or more of these concepts. Try to get down and dirty with this assignment by describing specific portions of the film and them applying theory. The better you apply theory the better you complete the assignment. Some of the movies have several of the overall topics contained within them.

Review one of the films below. Some questions to help you get started are: How does the main character deal with his or her place in society? Are there gender, identity and family issues present? What about peer structure, stereotyping and prejudice? Is the book or movie a good representation of America? Are there gender or self-perception issues in place? How do these contribute to the creation of an individual? How much of this is created by the culture in which the main character resides? How much of the culture does the main character create?

You can also compare and contrast the same concept from two different movies. Remember to concentrate on abnormal, social or developmental psychology. You can also do up to three more for extra credit. Do not give me synopsis of the movie. I have seen it. Tell me how it applies to psychology.

USE SOCIAL THEORY AND REFERENCES
