NASA
The NASA lab runs cognitive psychological experiments. The experiment itself lasts about an hour, though subjects should plan on being at nasa for an hour and half. The subject will sit in a PC secluded room. The subject will be asked to responded to either a visual stimuli on the computer screen or to a sound. The subject will use a keyboard and/or a microphone to respond. There is no danger to the subject. Nothing will be "hooked up" or connected to the subject. Our experiments are very similar to basic computer games.
The purpose of the experiment will be explained at the end.
Experiments can be scheduled M/W 12:00-3:30pm, T/Th 8:00am-5:00pm, F 8:00-11:00a.m., 4:00-6:30pm. No weekend appointments can be made. To schedule an appointment, please call 650-604-4165. An email contact is ames.coglab@yahoo.com
If you would like to schedule via email, please provide the following:
1) A list of three days (with times) that you are available.
2) Let them know if you are an U.S. citizen or if you hold a green card. If you hold a green card, I need to know what country you were originally from.
3) Type in your full first and last name so that they can get security clearance for you (please spell your name as it is written on your driver's license).
4) Let them know if anyone will be coming with you, either a driver, or someone who would also like to participate in the experiment. They will need to know their full names (first and last) and their citizenship in order to get them clearance onto the base. If they are not coming for extra credit, they are eligible to be paid for the experiment.
5) Your phone number and the college you attend.
If you are a United States citizen, you only need to bring your driver's license or other legal ID with you for identification. If you are a foreign national student, you must bring your ORIGINAL Green Card with you (security will not accept photocopies). If you will be brining a driver or friend with you, you must notify the lab in advance.
If you are not a U.S. citizen, your paperwork will take longer to process so appointments will have to be made about 3 weeks in advance. Please don't wait till the last few weeks of the quarter!
Directions for highway 85 (De Anza College): Take 85 north towards Mountain View. Take the Moffett Blvd exit, turn right onto Moffett Blvd. You'll pass one stoplight and the road will dead end into NASA Ames.
Directions from San Jose or Palo Alto: Take 101 north (or South, respectively) towards Mountain View. Exit Moffett Field, NOT Moffett Blvd. Follow Moffett, saying in the right hand lane, until it dead ends into NASA Ames.
At the front gate, park on your right side. There will be a "Visitor Badging/Control" office. Go inside there and let them know you're here for a psychology experiment. They'll give you a badge for the day. After that, ask them for directions and a map on how to get to our lab. We're in building 262 in room 243 (on the 2nd floor).
