Music 14A Spring '11 Tentative ScheduleHere's a tentative schedule for the class. Treat each week's scheduled material like a checklist for each time you sit down to practice; don't spend the entire 30 minutes (or more) on one or two things--touch on several items each time you sit down to practice, including studying the textbook. Happy practicing!Week 1
- Rhythm reading: exercises from Classical Guitar for Beginners, p. 11
- Introduce free strokes with "P" (right hand thumb), p.13
- Pitch reading, playing on the open 5th and 6th strings--Begin "Reading on the 5th and 6th Strings"
- Learn proper left-hand technique, p.14
- Begin left-hand warm-up exercise: Chromatic scale, left hand walking (in-class demo, no handout)
- Assignment: Note speller 1 due week two Tues/Thus class.

- Note speller 1 Due at the start of class Wednesday/Thursday
- Review rhythm reading
- Review right-hand technique: free strokes with "p"
