From a comments section (not all of the students wrote comments):
What did you like about the course?
I felt more knowledgeable and proud that I can rescue somebody who is in danger. I feel important.
Challenging, held to high standards.
Hand on practice.
I liked the large amount of time to be able to practice over and over the different scenarios. I feel more confident after this course than shorter courses, such as a one day course.
All the knowledge I got from it.
The way the skills were checked.
It was very thorough and informative. Mary was a great instructor. Inspires me to go further with this certification.
The practice sessions and the videos were very helpful. The manual is very easy to follow and very helpful.
It helps me a lot which I can help other people in these situations. Got more knowledge.
Had enough time to absorb the material.
Detailed instructions. Very, very patient to the students, make sure that you did it right, move on to the next step!
I learned something that is lifesaving. I wish everyone would take this class.
very much useful and exciting
It was straight to the point. I liked that it was over 6 weeks rather than 1 day.
The fact that the subject matter would be very important to know in case of emergency.
The energy of the instructor!
What did you dislike about the course?
Too many students did not take the work seriously. We will be medical professionals!
None.
Can't think of anything.
Too much pressure in doing it right in practice.
Questions from a few students made it clear they had not been doing the reading assignments. Their skills betrayed them as well.
Nothing in particular. Only the kneeling down on the floor during practice sessions.
I'm always afraid to make mistakes in this class.
Nothing.
Not enough time. Too big of a class.
It felt rushed and I know this class is longer in duration than the Red Cross. I feel it needs to be taken 3 or 4 times.
Nothing.
extra hours to work
Checkoff process for skills should have been more strict - there are some people in class that should not be certified or I would not want them to try to help me...
It was confusing in the beginning and the teaching assistants tricked us at times. We were lost in the beginning. We were fine later.
Nothing
What specific changes could improve this course?
A larger area is better.
None.
Smaller class.
Having students set up right when they come into class.
It helps to really think - airway & call 911 right off the bat.
Maybe a better way to do check offs. I did like when we stood in line to wait for first, 2nd. etc. But I think that was confusing to some maybe do alphabetical by last name.
Give more time for practice.
Everything is perfect.
More helpers for the amount of students.
-Everything is perfect-
Please make any additional comments or suggestions about this course and/or this instructor.
Good instructor, good book, good assistant helpers, good videos, good equipment, overall everything was good.
Great teacher makes things simpler.
Instructor was very well prepared and provided specifics to give more reality to skills learned.
None. It was good.
Instructor is extraordinary. She taught really good. I like her teaching way.
None.
There should be more classes like this on campus.
Mary made the course fun yet very informative. I learned so much.
The instructor is a great person and a very good teacher.
Mary knows her stuff. She can answer pretty much anything.
Instructor was very well prepared and excited to expand our knowledge as students.
This was a very well organized course with excellent skills. I really learned a lot from this course.
If no one volunteers to help get the supplies then just pick people then be sure to have help and some don't get off doing nothing in the class.
If the class size gets smaller, it will getting better.
I like (after the fact) that the class was hard because I feel like I know it well. Yet there really wasn't enough time to meet those standards it felt like.
Room should be bigger.
Instructor was very knowledgeable about subject matter.
