AED trainer scripts

This page was written to the 2002 material. If I find the need I will update it to the new material.

Until then you can find another current script at What the AED says as you use it

Here are scripts #1 and #7 for the Laerdal Automated External Defibrillator (AED) trainer. That is, this is what the trainer says as you use it if it is set to position one or seven.

Students can use these scripts for practice after they have learned to use such an AED. Instructors can use them when the batteries suddenly fail on their trainers or if they only have one real trainer, but more than one instructor available to test on skills.

AED Dialog Simulator Setting 1

Apply pads to patient’s bare chest.

Plug in pads connector next to flashing light. . . .

Apply pads.

Plug in connector. [Repeats until connector plugged in.] . . .

Analyzing heart rhythm.

Do not touch the patient. . . .

Shock advised. Charging. Stand clear of patient.

Deliver shock now.

Press orange button now. [Repeats until button pushed.] . . .

Shock delivered. . . .

Analyzing heart rhythm.

Do not touch the patient. . . .

Analyzing heart rhythm.

Do not touch the patient. . . .

No shock advised. It is safe to touch the patient.

Check airway. Check breathing. Check pulse. If needed, begin CPR.
