mathzone description/getting OnDescription: Mathzone is an internet based computer software program that offers a variety of media to help you learn your course material. Homework, quizzes, exams and a final will be done on mathzone. Homework may be done as many times as you wish. Quizzes may be taken sometimes twice or three times. Mathzone will record your highest grade. Three exams and a final are proctored. If you wish to take an exam or the final at another authorized center you must give me two weeks advance notice.
Mathzone offers a variety of media to learn the material. You may use your book, videos, interactive practices, electronic professor and/or a tutor which can be found under different tabs. First, lets get you on!
Getting Onto Mathzone: To get onto mathzone you must have two codes, a course code and an individual registration code. Course code for DL is 69A-D8-FFB. The Course Code for On-campus is 8FA-DB-633
Your registration code is either wrapped with your book on the back of the mathzone insert or you will need to purchase it on-line. To get onto mathzone go to www.mathzone.com. You will see a Register for Mathzone Now light blue tab. Click on it. Next, you will need your course code (above), your reg code if you have it with your book (a credit card if not), and your email address. You will need to pick our book from the list, "Miller/Oneil/Hyde Intermediate Alg. 2nd Ed". Then, you will need to click the light blue covered book, 2nd Ed Int. Alg. From this point you will be taken to a screen where it says Register and you want to click Student. The next screen will ask you for your registration code and you may just type it in and follow the remaining instructions. If you do not have a reg. code, you may purchase one on line. I believe the cost is about 28$. After that you will follow the instructions which will get you on.
Once on Mathzone: Now that you are on mathzone, it is imperative that you look around. If you hit assignments you will see all the assignments set up to follow our course outline. Remember that they are due the day of the final (5pm) but that you must pace yourself. If you click on the link below any homework you will start problems in that homework section. However, first you must learn the material. To do that, please click on self study. To the left you will see the sections. Open any chapter by clicking on the box with an x. Do the same to get to a section. If you further click on more resources you will see different options. Please take a look at each one and realize that for a different section you may want to try a different combination. There are different people that lecture and sometimes electronic professor is better in certain sections. If you need help on a concept or skill you may hit the tab at the top called On Line Tutor. You will get a tutor familiar with your book's problems and mathzone.
Problems Mathzone is not perfect, it too makes mistakes. If you can not understand what you did wrong and perhaps you had someone else tell you that your answer was correct PLEASE bring that section and problem number to any of the exams. I do want to see it and adjust your score if necessary. Sometimes you may make a simple mistake - for instance in the problem the variable is p and you answer with an x. I will give you points back. I will also give you points back if you put in )) instead of ), or a blank space causes problems. I will not give you back points if the answer is -3 and you put 3, but really meant -3. If you are having problems in mathzone that I have not described, please bring it to my attention either by email, phone or in person.
