Bookstore or for free downloading at: http://cnx.org. You may download the
text for free onto your computer and print out the pages you want. (Note: If
you plan on printing the entire book, it¹s less expensive to purchase the
hard copy at the Bookstore.)
A Calendar for the Book Chapter can be Found at statschedule
Equipment: TI- 83 or 84 graphing calculator
Attendance: Attendance is required in the first two weeks. If you miss a class meeting w/o contacting
me in advance I MAY drop you from the course. NOTE: IF YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO DROP THE COURSE IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! Although I may drop you from the course if you are not attending, I may not and CAN NOT at the end of the quarter. Hence, if you expected me to drop you BUT I did not, my only option with the rules (these days) is to give you a grade which may likely be an "F".
Quizzes: Several quizzes will be given throughout the quarter. Your 9 best quizzes will be used in the calculation of your grade. Quizzes will be based on homework assignments, lecture and sometimes labs..
Presentations:You will be asked to give a very short (<5 Min.) presentation on statistics currently used in the real-world or your life. This presentation is part of your grade and is 10 points of your quiz scores. For instance, if you chose not to do a presentation then the best you can get out of 100 points on quizzes/presentation is 90 points by getting 9 quizzes with a perfect score of 10.
Labs: Three to five collaborative statistics labs will be assigned. Labs will be described in class. Unless given permission, lab projects must
be done in groups of 2. If you turn in a lab by yourself (without a lab partner) you will be deducted by 20%. NO LATE labs will be accepted
Extra Credit TBA.
Exams: Three exams worth one hundred points each will be given. If you have an extenuating circumstance I may give you the exam a day early or late. An extenuating circumstance is not a flight out/in from vacation, picking someone up from the airport, scheduled an interview ect... If you have an extenuating circumstance you must provide evidence of the situation and contact me asap. It will be my decision to give you a makeup or not.
Final Exam: A comprehensive exam will be given. If you miss the exam without
contacting me before the exam you will automatically receive an “F”.
