Fall '14 Classes:JOUR 2 - Mass Communication and Its Impact on Society - Four-unit class meets Tuesday and Thursday 1:30-3:20 p.m. in L42. A survey of the mass media and measurement of its impact on culture and
society. Mass media effects on global and American institutions.
Theories of mass communications in the context of each medium: books,
newspapers, magazines, movies, radio, recordings, television and the
Internet. Ethical and legal implications of media and their effects on
the individual and society. Influences of the media on gender, ethnic
and minority issues. Textbook is Mass Communication: Living in a Media World by Ralph Hanson, 4th edition.
STUDENT MEDIA PRODUCTION CLASSES - These classes publish La Voz Weekly and web and video content.Three-unit classes meet
Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-5:45 p.m. in Room L42.
