2. How can the theory be observed in early childhood programs? In other words, think about each theory and tell me what the classroom would look like that puts each theory into practice. Give specific examples! You should allow one page per theorist.

5 points each theorist -examples of how the theory is put into practice in the classroom or childcare program.

Late papers are docked 1 point/day.

The research paper must be ORIGINAL (no copy and pasting) or it will not be accepted.

Total 50 points

Include an alphabetized list of references. References must be properly sited (APA style)in the body of the paper.

Points will be deducted if assignments are not typed and your references are not sited properly within your paper. See "How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich: APA Style" in this website, for tips on APA Style.

Assignment #1 and rewrites will not be accepted after Sunday May 16.

Observation Projects (50 Points Each)

Three Written Observations are due during the quarter. To complete these observations you must:

- Download and print the Guidelines for Observations on the Catalyst website or click on the assignment for complete instructions. 25 Points will be deducted for not following the guidelines..

- Observe a non-walking infant, toddler 13-32 months of age, and pre-school children in their homes and/or at their schools, and take notes.

- Use your notes to answer completely, the questions on the Guidelines for Observations included in this website and on the catalyst website when you click on the observation assignment.

Be sure to copy and paste the question first! (You will lose 5 points if you do not!)Questions must be answered based on what you see during the observation (not what you know about the child from previous experience). Do NOT observe your OWN child.

Observations provide stimulating learning experiences for the students as they are able to see children in context. This helps the theory and technical information presented in the textbook make more sense. Be sure to pick a time when the infant is at his/her best (not sleeping, sick, or tired). Avoid party situations, since the infant will not be acting in a normal fashion.

Be sure to read the pertinent chapters in the text prior to doing the observations.

Do not observe your own child for this assignment. DO NOT observe while you are working in a center or as a babysitter!!

Take advantage of Office Hours to improve your score on assignments.

See CD/PSYC 10G Assignment Schedule.
Assignment #1 will not be accepted after week 5. Points will be deducted for grammar and spelling errors.
