Mentor LetterDe Anza College Teach for Tomorrow Program October 8, 2008
Memo
regarding the school site visit
Dear ____________________,
I hope you had a
relaxing summer. I’m excited that we have many students signed up for the Teach
for Tomorrow Program. After the students have received a
teacher to work with they will phone that person and arrange a time that they
can come in and observe the first day.
They will begin working in the classroom about five hours a week in
order to complete their required 30 hours in the next 9 weeks. The students are anxious to get started as
soon as possible. The purpose of the program
is to give the student “hands on” experience helping the teacher in the
classroom. This can include working with
children in small groups, tutoring, correcting papers, helping with an activity
or any other task that the teacher feels appropriate. The student has not been fingerprinted, therefore he/she may not be left in charge of students without a mentor teacher present.
The student needs to turn
the following items into the office.
- a copy of their TB test
- the weekly time sheet
- wear their name badge when on the campus
- sign in at the office / sign out when leaving
The official De Anza name
badge must be worn at all times while they participate in the internship.
A copy of the schedule of
internship hours will also be presented to the classroom teacher each week to sign. This will verify his/her hours..
If you have any questions
please don’t hesitate to call me at (408) 864-8894. I can’t thank you enough for making this
possible for our students.
Respectfully, Juanita Cordero Teach for Tomorrow Director
