Teach for TomorrowTeach for Tomorrow is a program of the Teacher and Reading development Partnership Grant funded by the California Community College Chancellor's Office.
De Anza Child and Education Division offers students an opportunity to participate in the Teach for Tomorrow Program. During the fall quarter this class will meet every Monday and Wednesday morning at 11:00 to 11:50 a.m. Students will complete a thirty hour internship working as teacher's aides in an elementary classroom under the supervision of a mentor teacher. This internship will allow students to facilitate individual or small group tutoring, respond to children's writing and math assignments. This internship meets San Jose State University requirement to enter the credential program. You must also pass the CBEST exam and after the first semester at SJSU the CSET before being allowed to begin your student teaching. Jan Grodeon the credential advisor from SJSU will speak to the Education 1 students about entering the credential program. If a student plans to attend any other college other than San Jose State University then 50 hours in the classroom are required before entering their credential program.
