How To Access the Catalyst Server

ABOUT THE MURALS
He murals were painted by DAC students in the Murals painting studio class, which is taught by Eugene Rodriquez. As a group the students developed the concept, composition, planning and painting. Be sure to look up the meaning of the words in the title (in dictionary).

Choose only ONE of the following two murals for your discussion:
1
Sublimnalities
mural painted by John da Guia, Andy Gouveia, Rebecca Hartman, Erin Kawamata, Josh Luke, Maria Pungnetti and Micheal Selby (2001)
Located on L7 building, on end closest to parking lOt. You can see it from L Quad fountain.
2
Beautiful Chaos
Names of student artists appear on the mural. (2008)
Located on A5 building on side facing Flint Center

The following website has information about other art on campus as well as a map and walking tour:

GETTING STARTED
Login to the catalyst website. Poke around, investigate, check out the links. You cannot hurt anything. The "breadcrumbs" at the top of the page allow you to see your path and/or take a shortcut back to your starting point.

Be sure to read the Announcements from Instructor and the Document regarding this assignment. They contain important information about credit for posts. Find these 2 documents in center column, first block.

The links to the group discussion appear in the 2nd block, also in center column. Click on your group to get to the discussion. Each discussion Forum has 10-13 potential participants. (2-3 groups), depending on how many students participate.

Post in the discussion forum for your group number.

Choose only one mural for your discussion.

You can start a new topic or reply to someone else's posting.

Be sure the abbreviation of the mural you are discussing appears in the subject line of your post. Abbreviate as follows: SUB or CHAOS. (Don't hit "reply" unless you are responding to a post on the same subject.)

You will not see your post for 60 minutes. Don't post the same message a second time unless you have waited 60 minutes. You may need to refresh/reload your screen to get updated view.

ABOUT THE CATALYST DISCUSSION FORUM:
This should be interactive , not a list of unrelated postings, so reply to each other as appropriate, contribute your ideas, or add to someone's comments.

Be sure the subject line for your posting is accurate and includes an abbreviation for mural you are discussing.
Remember to hit the "Post" command at the bottom of the page or your comments will never appear.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you compose your post in word processing and then copy and paste it into Catalyst. Then, in Catalyst you can edit if you wish to have underscore, bold etc. It can be frustrating to compose in Catalyst if it is more than a sentence or two. And you will lose your message if you go to another application or close a window accidentally, before you post it. Catalyst will not publish your post for 60 minutes. This way, you can read it and make sure it is clear and understandable. If not, you have 60 minutes to make changes or edit. You may need to refresh/reload your screen to see your posting on Catalyst 60 minutes later.
