ABOUT THE CLASS

THIS COURSE IS ONLINE, HOWEVER, IT IS NOT SELF-PACED.
There are deadlines for assignments with a penalty for late submissions. There are multiple blocks of time when tests are available, therefore, THERE ARE NO MAKEUP TESTS.

* 99% of student questions are answered in the OFFICIAL SYLLABUS, on the CATALYST SITE, WHICH YOU CAN ACCESS FIRST DAY OF CLASS, including the Schedule, weekly reading assignments, written assignments, due dates and test dates.

DISTANCE LEARNING ONLINE ORIENTATION FOR CLASSES THAT DO NOT MEET ON CAMPUS. THIS ORIENTATION IS A REQUIRED PREREQUISITE FOR THE HUMANITIES 16 CLASS.
If you add the class, be sure to complete Online Orientation promptly...or you may be dropped from the class. Read each page and click 'continue' or 'next' at the bottom of page. Students are responsible for knowing this information. (You can refer back to these pages anytime during the quarter.)

TO ENROLL DURING THE REGISTRATION PERIOD...
Register for Humanities 16, Arts, Ideas & Values through normal college registration. If the class fills, the automated registration system offers you the opportunity to put your name on the waitlist. If a seat becomes available, the automated registration system will add waitlisted students in order according to the date on which they added their name. Check back frequently: you may have been automatically added or moved up higher on the waitlist. (A new space at bottom of the waitlist will appear if someone drops off.) If the waitlist is full, send me an email message request including your full name and the name of the class you wish to add. (No phone or voice message requests are accepted.)
If you registered and later decide to drop the class, please process the drop immediately to give another student the opportunity to take your place. If the quarter has already begun, please also notify the instructor by email so she can add a student.

TO ADD DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES
I will not know how many students are officially enrolled and/or waitlisted until the first day of class when official rosters are distributed. Beginning on the first day of classes I will distribute add codes (via email) in the following order:
1)...Official Waitlisted students who contact me by email to request an add code. Students who do not contact me by the third day of class are presumed to no longer be interested and may lose their waitlist priority.
2... Students who email me with a request to add after the waitlist was full, or after the quarter started. (No phone calls or voice message requests are accepted.)
PROCESS ADD CODES PROMPTLY OR YOU MAY NOT GET INTO THE CLASS.
If the instructor gives you an add code, process it immediately to enroll in the course.(via internet, phone or in person at Admissions & Records office). If you have problems with the automated registration system, contact the registrar immediately. I cannot help you with this. In addition to adding the classs, any fees due to the college must be paid, before you are considered officially enrolled. WHEN YOU ARE OFFICIALLY ENROLLED IN THE CLASS, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS CATALYST.
ADD CODES MUST BE PROCESSED BY 4:00 pm ON LAST DAY TO ADD CLASSES.
During normal quarters this is the Friday of Week 2. (Summer Sessions deadlines vary: check your schedule of classes for date.) INSTRUCTOR WILL NOT PERMIT ANY ADDS AFTER THIS TIME AND DATE, EVEN IF STUDENT WAS GIVEN AN ADD CODE EARLIER. No Exceptions.
