About MeMy full name is Salamander Timberwolfe Breiter. I live in Santa Cruz, California with my partner Angelita and our two children, Avia and Makai. I absolutely love living by the ocean and spend a lot of time swimming and surfing, but I have to tell you, driving across highway 17 to teach everyday can be a bit hair raising! I teach Humanities courses, but I am an Anthropologist by training. My bachelors degree is from Fairhaven College and my masters is from Western Washington University. Both are located in Bellingham, WA. I bring this background to all of the courses I teach, no matter what discipline they might be in. I advocate student opinion and personal involvment with course materials and encourage discussion. I believe that each issue can be evaluated from a variety of perspectives and that diversity of opinion enriches our understanding of any topic. We must be critical of all ideas that we are taught, determining what perspectives and ideologies drive them. History can be treated as a mystery, ultimately unknowable, but rich with clues and concepts that can provide a backdrop for our analysis of contemporary social and environmental issues. I look forward to the opportunity to explore the humanities with you. Hey...if you have any questions about me...give me a ring, drop a line, or better yet, stop by and give me a visit. I would love to meet you in person.
Avia and Makai
