All angles are in degrees.
(1) vector a = (300 sin 30 + 35 sin 45) i + (300 cos 30 - 35 cos 45)j
vector a = 174.75i + 235.06j
magnitude of vector a = 292.2 mph ground speed
true course is N 36.6 degrees E because theta = arctan(174.75/235.06)
vector v = = 174.75i + 235.06j + 18k
magnitude of vector v = 293.5 mph
angle of ascent is 3.5 degrees, calculated as arctan(18/292.2)

(2) vector a = (-260 sin 45 - 30 sin 45) i + (260 cos 45 - 30 cos 45)j
vector a = -205.06i + 162.63j
magnitude of vector a = 261.7 mph ground speed
true course is N 51.6 degrees W because theta = arctan(205.06/162.63)
vector v = -205.06i + 162.63j - 14k
magnitude of vector v = 262.1 mph
angle of descent is 3.1 degrees, calculated as arctan(14/261.7)
