Data Analysis Lab : Home Team Advantage
This lab is available at the link below:
http://nebula.deanza.edu/~bloom/Math10/LINK NOT YET ACTIVE FOR WINTER 2010
Depending on the quarter, we will use data for either NBA professional basketball or major league baseball.
We are comparing results for home games and away games to use statistics to determine if there really is a home team advantage, using data as of the end of the regular season.
YOU MUST DO THE DATA ANAYSIS PORTIONS PARTS A AND B ON THE HANDOUT ITSELF IN THE SPACES PROVIDED - do NOT rewrite the lab in your own format.
If you were not in class on the date that the lab was started, then you need to do the lab alone - you can not join a group that already did lab work without your participation.

Probability Simulation Lab
This lab is available at the link below:
http://nebula.deanza.edu/~bloom/Math10/LINK WILL BE UPDATED FOR 2010
We will perform a simulation to determine the answer to the "Monty Hall (Let's Make a Deal" problem. If you saw the Movie "21" then you heard the problem and its solution in the classroom scene early in the movie. The problem is explained in the lab handout. If curious, you can research the theoretical answer to this problem online. We will verify that solution using simulation.
There are 2 due dates for this lab. The first due date is to hand in the data that you obtain when doing your simulation. The second due date is to complete the rest of the lab by answering the the questions based on the class data. Class data will be posted online after it has been collected.

Confidence Interval Lab
This lab will explore some of the underlying concepts of confidence intervals, beyond merely knowing how to calculate them.

Linear Regression and Correlation Lab
This lab will practice the skills and explore some of the underlying concepts for linear regression and correlation. This lab will be posted on Catalyst at the appropriate time during the quarter.

Chi Square Lab
In this lab you will use your calculator and student data to perform a test of independence and a goodness of fit test. This class is usually done entirely in class and collected on the same day that it is started in class. This lab will be posted on Catalyst at the appropriate time during the quarter.
