10 Homework Assign

The first week homework is written and handed in on paper. See Catalyst or the Math 10 Homepage for the homework worksheet.

After week 1, regular chapter homeworks are in WEBASSIGN.
Check Webassign and Catalyst for the homework information for the current quarter.

http://www.webassign.net
Students will do and submit homework for chapters 1 through 13 online at Webassign.
Webassign homeworks are graded.

THE REST OF PAGE IS UNDER REVISION. IT IS NOT COMPLETE OR ACCURATE FOR THE CURRENT QUARTER.
Check Webassign and Catalyst for the homework information for the current quarter.

The online homework problems in Webassign are a selection of problems taken from the homework problems in the Collaborative Statistics textbook.

Below is a list of appropriate practice homework problems from the Collaborative Statistics textbook. These include the problems assigned in Webassign as well as other problems not included in Webassign. For most chapters the lists of problems here contain more problems than the online homework assignments in Webassign

Chapter 1:
Homework Problems 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 18ab, 28, 29; Multiple choice #19 thru 27 (also suggested Collaborative Classroom Exercise 1.6.1: # 1 thru 5 ; Example 1-10: # 1 thru 6)

Chapter 2
Ch 2 Practice 1 and Ch 2 Practice 2 at end of chapter
Homework Problems 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 parts a and c, 8, 9, 10, 11 part b, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 ,21, 23, 24 thru 30, 31, 32; Do also practice examples in the section of chapter 2 relating to interpreting percentiles.

Chapter 3
Contingency Tables: 15 (omit part g), 16abc, 17, 23;
Addition and Complement Rules: 33 thru 37
Probability Rules: 1, 7, 8 thru 12,14, 21, 38
Probability Trees: 2, 3, 24, 39, 40, 41
Multiple Choice Problems #28 - 32

Chapter 4
Ch 4 Practice 2 for Binomial distribution at end of chapter 4
Chapter 4 Homework Problems: #1, 2, 3, 5 thru 12, 19, 20, 28, 29, 33 thru 35, 38 thru 43
Problems listed by Topic:
Discrete Distributions: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 38, 39, 40
Binomial Distribution: 7 thru 12, 41, 42, 43, 33 thru 35
Do NOT try any problems that are not listed in this assignment. They may involve a probability distribution we did not cover, and you will get frustrated trying to do it if we haven't covered the material.

Chapter 5
All parts of listed problems EXCEPT for the parts indicated to omit:
Problems for Uniform Distribution: 3(omit i), 4(omit h), 5(omit last part l), 6 (omit h, i), 7, 18, 19
Problems for Exponential Distribution: 9(omit g) 10, 11(omit g), 13(omit i) , 14, 15, 16

Chapter 6
Ch. 6 Practice at end of chapter 6
Homework Problems 1,2 , 3, 4, 5 (omit c), 7, 8, 12 through 19
Also go back to problems 6, 9, 31 from Chapter 2

Chapter 7
Do problems relating to AVERAGES
Do NOT not do questions or parts of questions about SUMS
1-5, 8-14, 19-24, 26

Chapter 8
Practices at end of chapter:
Ch. 8 Practice 3 for estimating proportions
Ch. 8 Practice 1 and 2 for estimating means
