Lab C: Philosophy 4

Note: If you are following these directions in printed (paper) form, first log on to the Internet and go to:
http://faculty.deanza.edu/alvesdelimadiana then click on Adjunct Skills Internet Labs (B & C) under the Skills Center heading. Then click on Lab C: Philosophy. That way you can click on the links instead of typing in the addresses.
To complete this Skills lab ---

  1. Take at least one page of notes on the following web site:
    http://www.muskingum.edu/~cal/database/general
    Muskigum College General Purpose Database

  2. For your post test activity, go to http://www.sjsu.edu/depts/itl/tour/tourfrm2.html San Jose State's Mission: Critical
    • Read over the menu and select two subtopics from the following main topics: The Basics, Analysis of Arguments, Fallacies and Non-Rational Persuasion, or Other Common Fallacies.
    • Complete at least two (2) exercises. You may either record your answers on a separate sheet of paper to submit (label your work) or you may print out the pages you worked on. (Note: Use print preview to select the exact number of pages you wish to print.) Be sure to check your answers as you go.

  3. Submit your exercise answers with your one page of notes.
(Skills grades are based on effort and the quality of the notes and work, not on post test content accuracy. However, we strongly recommend students review any questions missed before submitting this lab.)

Alternate Post Test:

In case of internet technical difficulties with the original post test link:

Go to http://austhink.com/critical/pages/tutorials.html
Do a test, submit for grading, print out score and submit with notes.

The Skills Center will continue to add additional Internet resources to this lab. We welcome information from students on new, interactive web sites that support learning and practice in this content area. If you have suggestions, please e-mail Jeannie Kastelic at kastelicjeannie@fhda.edu .
